2020-12-11serial: 8250_pci: Drop bogus __refdata annotationGeert Uytterhoeven
Since commit d73dfc6a4199e0e3 ("serial: 8250_pci: remove __devexit usage") in v3.9, the 8250/16550 PCI serial driver no longer has any code or data located in initmem, hence there is no need to annotate the pci_serial_quirks structure with __refdata. Drop the annotation, to avoid suppressing future section warnings. 2020-09-16serial: 8250_pci: Add Realtek 816a and 816bTobias Diedrich
These serial ports are exposed by the OOB-management-engine on RealManage-enabled network cards (e.g. AMD DASH enabled systems using Realtek cards). Because these have 3 BARs, they fail the "num_iomem <= 1" check in serial_pci_guess_board. I've manually checked the two IOMEM regions and BAR 2 doesn't seem to respond to reads, but BAR 4 seems to be an MMIO version of the IO ports (untested). 2020-02-13serial: 8250_pci: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. This reverts commit fdc2de87124f5183a98ea7eced1f76dbdba22951 ("serial/8250: Add support for NI-Serial PXI/PXIe+485 devices"). The commit fdc2de87124f ("serial/8250: Add support for NI-Serial PXI/PXIe+485 devices") introduced a breakage on NI-Serial PXI(e)-RS485 devices, RS-232 variants have no issue. The Linux system can enumerate the NI-Serial PXI(e)-RS485 devices, but it broke the R/W operation on the ports. However, the implementation is working on the NI internal Linux RT kernel but it does not work in the Linux main tree kernel. This is only affecting NI products, specifically the RS-485 variants. Reverting the upstream until a proper implementation that can apply to both NI internal Linux kernel and Linux mainline kernel is figured out. 2019-09-04serial: 8250_pci: Implement MSI(-X) supportRalf Ramsauer
There may be setups, where legacy interrupts are not available. This is the caese, e.g., when Linux runs as guest (aka. non-root cell) of the partitioning hypervisor Jailhouse. There, only MSI(-X) interrupts are available for guests. But the 8250_pci driver currently only supports legacy ints. So let's enable MSI(-X) interrupts. Nevertheless, this needs to handled with care: while many 8250 devices actually claim to support MSI(-X) interrupts it should not be enabled be default. I had at least one device in my hands with broken MSI implementation. So better introduce a whitelist with devices that are known to support MSI(-X) interrupts. I tested all devices mentioned in the patch. After the commit 7d8905d06405 ("serial: 8250_pci: Enable device after we check black list") pure serial multi-port cards, such as CH355, got blacklisted and thus not being enumerated anymore. Previously, it seems, blacklisting them was on purpose to shut up pciserial_init_one() about record duplication. So, remove the entries from blacklist in order to get cards enumerated. 2017-11-08tty: serial: Remove redundant license textGreg Kroah-Hartman
Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-11-08tty: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/tty/Greg Kroah-Hartman
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. If the board we are guessing has been listed in black list we don't need to enable it twice. The associated driver, if any, will take care about proper initialization. To achieve this we split out two helper functions, i.e. serial_pci_is_class_communication() and serial_pci_is_blacklisted() which will be called before pcim_enable_device(). We can do this since PCI specification requires class, device and vendor ID registers to be always present in the configuration space. First 16 bits in the flags field are user-visible except UPF_NO_TXEN_TEST. To keep it clean we introduce internal quirks and move UPF_NO_TXEN_TEST to them. Rename the constant to UPQ_NO_TXEN_TEST to distinguish with port flags. Users are converted accordingly. The quirks field might be extended later to hold the additional ones. 2017-02-10serial: exar: Move Commtech adapters to 8250_exar as wellJan Kiszka
Those are Exar-based, too. With the required refactoring of the code to fit into 8250_exar, we automatically fix the same issue pci_xr17v35x_setup had before: 8XMODE, FCTL, TXTRG and RXTRG were always only set for port 0. Now they are initialized for the correct target port by using port.membase. Now we can also cleanly fix the blacklist of 8250_pci so that all Commtech devices are rejected and 8250_exar can handle them. The MKS Instruments SCOM-0800 and SCOM-0801 cards (originally by Tenta Technologies) are 3U CompactPCI serial cards with 4 and 8 serial ports, respectively. The first 4 ports are implemented by an OX16PCI954 chip, and the second 4 ports are implemented by an OX16C954 chip on a local bus, bridged by the second PCI function of the OX16PCI954. The ports are jumper-selectable as RS-232 and RS-422/485, and the UARTs use a non-standard oscillator frequency of 20 MHz (base_baud = 1250000). We found some issue when the experiment IC when the BAR3/4/5 is IORESOURCE_MEM. It'll cause wrong operation with IO resource. So we'll add the resource check for this. 2017-01-118250_pci: Fix potential use-after-free in error pathGabriel Krisman Bertazi
Commit f209fa03fc9d ("serial: 8250_pci: Detach low-level driver during PCI error recovery") introduces a potential use-after-free in case the pciserial_init_ports call in serial8250_io_resume fails, which may happen if a memory allocation fails or if the .init quirk failed for whatever reason). If this happen, further pci_get_drvdata will return a pointer to freed memory. This patch reworks the PCI recovery resume hook to restore the old priv structure in this case, which should be ok, since the ports were already detached. Such error during recovery causes us to give up on the recovery. 2016-11-29serial: 8250_pci: Detach low-level driver during PCI error recoveryGabriel Krisman Bertazi
During a PCI error recovery, like the ones provoked by EEH in the ppc64 platform, all IO to the device must be blocked while the recovery is completed. Current 8250_pci implementation only suspends the port instead of detaching it, which doesn't prevent incoming accesses like TIOCMGET and TIOCMSET calls from reaching the device. Those end up racing with the EEH recovery, crashing it. Similar races were also observed when opening the device and when shutting it down during recovery. This patch implements a more robust IO blockage for the 8250_pci recovery by unregistering the port at the beginning of the procedure and re-adding it afterwards. Since the port is detached from the uart layer, we can be sure that no request will make through to the device during recovery. This is similar to the solution used by the JSM serial driver. Reading datasheet I notice a "special" offset assign to this port when used in I/O mode. Offset 0x0 -> UART 0 Offset 0x8 -> UART 1 Offset 0x10 -> UART 2 Offset 0x38 -> UART 3 <<---- This don't follow a logical sequence This patch add a different init to last port, to have right offset. I check also Pericom 7952 and 7958 but that devices follow logical sequence, so they are ok.
