2019-08-21usb: add a HCD_DMA flag instead of guestimating DMA capabilitiesChristoph Hellwig
The usb core is the only major place in the kernel that checks for a non-NULL device dma_mask to see if a device is DMA capable. This is generally a bad idea, as all major busses always set up a DMA mask, even if the device is not DMA capable - in fact bus layers like PCI can't even know if a device is DMA capable at enumeration time. This leads to lots of workaround in HCD drivers, and also prevented us from setting up a DMA mask for platform devices by default last time we tried. Replace this guess with an explicit HCD_DMA that is set by drivers that appear to have DMA support. 2018-09-20usb: host: fotg2: Fix potential NULL dereferenceLinus Walleij
There is code in the .remove() hook to handle the drvdata being NULL, for good reasons: it is never set, so it will always be NULL. As I moved code around, static checkers start complaining. Instead of this, make sure to always set it on successful probe so we can always dereference it on the remove path. Use the platform_device_[set|get]_drvdata() since this is a platform device. 2018-09-10usb: host: fotg2: add silicon clock handlingLinus Walleij
When used in a system with software-controlled silicon clocks, the FOTG210 needs to grab, prepare and enable the clock. This is needed on for example the Cortina Gemini, where the platform will by default gate off the clock unless the peripheral (in this case the USB driver) grabs and enables the clock. If there is no clock available on the platform, we live without it. Make sure to percolate probe deferrals. Now that the SPDX tag is in all USB files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-11-04USB: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/usb/Greg Kroah-Hartman
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/usb/ and include/linux/usb* files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. Now that %z is standartised in C99 there is no reason to support %Z. Unlike %L it doesn't even make format strings smaller. Use BUILD_BUG_ON in a couple ATM drivers. In case anyone didn't notice lib/vsprintf.o is about half of SLUB which is in my opinion is quite an achievement. Hopefully this patch inspires someone else to trim vsprintf.c more. ktime is a union because the initial implementation stored the time in scalar nanoseconds on 64 bit machine and in a endianess optimized timespec variant for 32bit machines. The Y2038 cleanup removed the timespec variant and switched everything to scalar nanoseconds. The union remained, but become completely pointless. Get rid of the union and just keep ktime_t as simple typedef of type s64. The conversion was done with coccinelle and some manual mopping up. msleep under 20ms can result in sleeping up to 20ms, which may not be intended. Replace msleep(5) by usleep_range(5000, 10000). The range of 5 ms is to reduce the chances of creating an interrupt while reducing the maximum wait time in 50%. This patch intoduces the use of devm_ioremap_resource instead of request_mem_region and ioremap_nocache and removes the calls to free the allocated memory. Some labels are removes and a new label failed introduced to make it less specific to the context. The call to a platform get resource with IORESOURCE_IO is removed as it allocates memory that is not needed.
