2015-09-15RT4044: Remove .cvsignore files.Rich Salz
Reviewed-by: Matt Caswell <matt@openssl.org>
2015-05-23Fix the update target and remove duplicate file updatesRichard Levitte
We had updates of certain header files in both Makefile.org and the Makefile in the directory the header file lived in. This is error prone and also sometimes generates slightly different results (usually just a comment that differs) depending on which way the update was done. This removes the file update targets from the top level Makefile, adds an update: target in all Makefiles and has it depend on the depend: or local_depend: targets, whichever is appropriate, so we don't get a double run through the whole file tree. 2002-10-09Use double dashes so makedepend doesn't misunderstand the flags weRichard Levitte

libeay.num got tweaked so the old des symbols would retain their positions.
2001-10-24Due to an increasing number of clashes between modern OpenSSL andRichard Levitte
libdes (which is still used out there) or other des implementations, the OpenSSL DES functions are renamed to begin with DES_ instead of des_. Compatibility routines are provided and declared by including openssl/des_old.h. Those declarations are the same as were in des.h when the OpenSSL project started, which is exactly how libdes looked at that time, and hopefully still looks today. The compatibility functions will be removed in some future release, at the latest in version 1.0.

2001-06-19Change all calls to low level digest routines in the library andDr. Stephen Henson
applications to use EVP. Add missing calls to HMAC_cleanup() and don't assume HMAC_CTX can be copied using memcpy(). Note: this is almost identical to the patch submitted to openssl-dev by Verdon Walker <VWalker@novell.com> except some redundant EVP_add_digest_()/EVP_cleanup() calls were removed and some changes made to avoid compiler warnings.

2001-03-08Make EVP_Digest*() routines return a value.Dr. Stephen Henson
TODO: update docs, and make soe other routines which use EVP_Digest*() check return codes.
2001-02-22e_os.h does not belong with the exported headers. Do not put it thereRichard Levitte
and make all files the depend on it include it without prefixing it with openssl/. This means that all Makefiles will have $(TOP) as one of the include directories.
2001-02-19Make all configuration macros available for application by makingRichard Levitte
sure they are available in opensslconf.h, by giving them names starting with "OPENSSL_" to avoid conflicts with other packages and by making sure e_os2.h will cover all platform-specific cases together with opensslconf.h. I've checked fairly well that nothing breaks with this (apart from external software that will adapt if they have used something like NO_KRB5), but I can't guarantee it completely, so a review of this change would be a good thing.
2000-09-25'ranlib' doesn't always run on some systems. That's actuallyRichard Levitte
acceptable, since all that happens if it fails is a library with an index, which makes linking slower, but still working correctly.

1999-12-03Add functions des_set_key_checked, des_set_key_unchecked.Bodo Möller
Never use des_set_key (it depends on the global variable des_check_key), but usually des_set_key_unchecked. Only destest.c bothered to look at the return values of des_set_key, but it did not set des_check_key -- if it had done so, most checks would have failed because of wrong parity and because of weak keys.

1999-05-21It was a very bad idea to use #include "../e_os.h" -- when this occursBodo Möller
in cryptlib.h (which is often included as "../cryptlib.h"), then the question remains relative to which directory this is to be interpreted. gcc went one further directory up, as intended; but makedepend thinks differently, and so probably do some C compilers. So the ../ must go away; thus e_os.h goes back into include/openssl (but I now use #include "openssl/e_os.h" instead of <openssl/e_os.h> to make the point) -- and we have another huge bunch of dependency changes. Argh.
1999-05-20Don't install e_os.h in include/openssl, use it only as a localBodo Möller
include file.
1999-05-16Change type of various DES function arguments from des_cblockBodo Möller
(meaning pointer to char) to des_cblock * (meaning pointer to array with 8 char elements), which allows the compiler to do more typechecking. (The changed argument types were of type des_cblock * back in SSLeay, and a lot of ugly casts were used then to turn them into pointers to elements; but it can be done without those casts.) Introduce new type const_des_cblock -- before, the pointers rather than the elements pointed to were declared const, and for some reason gcc did not complain about this (but some other compilers did).
