2020-11-13Convert all {NAME}err() in crypto/ to their corresponding ERR_raise() callRichard Levitte
This includes error reporting for libcrypto sub-libraries in surprising places. This was done using util/err-to-raise Reviewed-by: Paul Dale <paul.dale@oracle.com> (Merged from https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/13318)
2020-08-11Use local IV storage in EVP BLOCK_* macrosBenjamin Kaduk
Inline the pre-13273237a65d46186b6bea0b51aec90670d4598a versions of EVP_CIPHER_CTX_iv(), EVP_CIPHER_CTX_original_iv(), and EVP_CIPHER_CTX_iv_noconst() in evp.h. These macros are internal-only, used to implement legacy libcrypto EVP ciphers, with no real provider involvement. Accordingly, just use the EVP_CIPHER_CTX storage directly and don't try to reach into a provider-side context. This does necessitate including evp_local.h in several more files. 2020-08-11Use local IV storage in e_rc2.cBenjamin Kaduk
Inline the pre-13273237a65d46186b6bea0b51aec90670d4598a versions of EVP_CIPHER_CTX_iv(), EVP_CIPHER_CTX_original_iv(), and EVP_CIPHER_CTX_iv_noconst() in e_rc2.c. For the legacy implementations, there's no need to use an in-provider storage for the IV, when the crypto operations themselves will be performed outside of the provider. 2020-01-16Deprecate the low level RC2 functionsPauli
Use of the low level RC2 functions has been informally discouraged for a long time. We now formally deprecate them. Applications should instead use the EVP APIs, e.g. EVP_EncryptInit_ex, EVP_EncryptUpdate, EVP_EncryptFinal_ex, and the equivalently named decrypt functions. 2019-09-28Reorganize private crypto header filesDr. Matthias St. Pierre
Currently, there are two different directories which contain internal header files of libcrypto which are meant to be shared internally: While header files in 'include/internal' are intended to be shared between libcrypto and libssl, the files in 'crypto/include/internal' are intended to be shared inside libcrypto only. To make things complicated, the include search path is set up in such a way that the directive #include "internal/file.h" could refer to a file in either of these two directoroes. This makes it necessary in some cases to add a '_int.h' suffix to some files to resolve this ambiguity: #include "internal/file.h" # located in 'include/internal' #include "internal/file_int.h" # located in 'crypto/include/internal' This commit moves the private crypto headers from 'crypto/include/internal' to 'include/crypto' As a result, the include directives become unambiguous #include "internal/file.h" # located in 'include/internal' #include "crypto/file.h" # located in 'include/crypto' hence the superfluous '_int.h' suffixes can be stripped. The files 'store_int.h' and 'store.h' need to be treated specially; they are joined into a single file. 2003-10-29A general spring-cleaning (in autumn) to fix up signed/unsigned warnings.Geoff Thorpe
I have tried to convert 'len' type variable declarations to unsigned as a means to address these warnings when appropriate, but when in doubt I have used casts in the comparisons instead. The better solution (that would get us all lynched by API users) would be to go through and convert all the function prototypes and structure definitions to use unsigned variables except when signed is necessary. The proliferation of (signed) "int" for strictly non-negative uses is unfortunate.

2002-02-16The AES modes OFB and CFB are defined with 128 feedback bits. ThisRichard Levitte
deviates from the "standard" 64 bits of feedback that all other algorithms are using. Therefore, let's redo certain EVP macros to accept different amounts of feedback bits for these modes. Also, change e_aes.c to provide all usually available modes for AES. CTR isn't included yet.

2001-02-19Make all configuration macros available for application by makingRichard Levitte
sure they are available in opensslconf.h, by giving them names starting with "OPENSSL_" to avoid conflicts with other packages and by making sure e_os2.h will cover all platform-specific cases together with opensslconf.h. I've checked fairly well that nothing breaks with this (apart from external software that will adapt if they have used something like NO_KRB5), but I can't guarantee it completely, so a review of this change would be a good thing.

2000-05-30More EVP cipher revision.Dr. Stephen Henson
Change EVP_SealInit() and EVP_OpenInit() to handle cipher parameters. Make it possible to set RC2 and RC5 params. Make RC2 ASN1 code use the effective key bits and not the key length. TODO: document how new API works.
2000-05-30Fourth phase EVP revision.Dr. Stephen Henson
Declare ciphers in terms of macros. This reduces the amount of code and places each block cipher EVP definition in a single file instead of being spread over 4 files.
