2015-07-23drivers/tty: make serial/sn_console.c driver explicitly non-modularPaul Gortmaker
The Kconfig for this option is currently: config SERIAL_SGI_L1_CONSOLE bool "SGI Altix L1 serial console support" ...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone. Lets remove the orphaned module code, so that when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only. We could consider making it tristate, but the above bool has been there since before the start of git history, which isn't all that surprising, since consoles are typically critical to have at early boot. So adding tristate is really of no value here. Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit. 2013-01-15TTY: switch tty_flip_buffer_pushJiri Slaby
Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway. Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. tty_insert_flip_char is the next one to proceed. This one is used all over the code, so the patch is huge. 2012-02-22[IA64] genirq fixup for SGI/SNDimitri Sivanich
This patch allows the system to boot and enables the console and at least some hardware drivers, as well as some platform error handling. Tested on a variety of SGI Altix system without issues. 2011-09-22TTY: irq: Remove IRQF_DISABLEDYong Zhang
Since commit [e58aa3d2: genirq: Run irq handlers with interrupts disabled], We run all interrupt handlers with interrupts disabled and we even check and yell when an interrupt handler returns with interrupts enabled (see commit [b738a50a: genirq: Warn when handler enables interrupts]). So now this flag is a NOOP and can be removed. Signed-off-by: Yong Zhang <yong.zhang0@gmail.com> Acked-by: Tobias Klauser <tklauser@distanz.ch> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-09-22TTY: serial, fix includes in some driversJiri Slaby
linux/tty_flip.h is included in linux/serial_core.h. But this may (and will) change in the future. Then we would get build errors such as: .../tty/serial/max3107.c: In function ‘put_data_to_circ_buf’: .../tty/serial/max3107.c:149:2: error: implicit declaration of function ‘tty_insert_flip_string’ So fix all the drviers which call tty flip buffer helpers to really include linux/tty_flip.h. And also make sure that those include linux/tty.h when operating with struct tty_struct. 2011-01-13tty: move drivers/serial/ to drivers/tty/serial/Greg Kroah-Hartman
The serial drivers are really just tty drivers, so move them to drivers/tty/ to make things a bit neater overall. This is part of the tty/serial driver movement proceedure as proposed by Arnd Bergmann and approved by everyone involved a number of months ago.
