The LM63 and compatible devices have a lookup table to control the fan speed automatically. Expose it in sysfs. Values are cached for 5 seconds, independently of the other register values to avoid slowing down "sensors". We might make the table values writable in the future. 2012-01-16hwmon: (max1111) Change sysfs interface to in[0-3]_input in millivoltsEric Miao
This patch fixed the inconsistent max1111 sysfs interface as pointed out by Jean Delvare: It was pointed to me that the max1111 driver doesn't implement the standard sysfs interface for hwmon drivers (as described in Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface). It exports files adc[0-3]_in, which aren't part of the standard interface. Presumably these should be renamed to in[0-3]_input. Renaming them is probably not sufficient though, as I see no scaling done in the driver. As the MAX1111 chip has a documented full scale of 2.048V, I take it that the LSB of the ADC has a weight of 8 mV. Exporting raw register values to user-space is not OK. module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For historical reasons, we allow module_param(bool) to take an int (or an unsigned int). That's going away. A few drivers really want an int: they set it to -1 and a parameter will set it to 0 or 1. This sucks: reading them from sysfs will give 'Y' for both -1 and 1, but if we change it to an int, then the users might be broken (if they did "param" instead of "param=1"). Use a new 'bint' parser for them. (ntfs has a different problem: it needs an int for debug_msgs because it's also exposed via sysctl.) BMR4xx devices don't have an external temperature sensor, and instantiating it does not provide value anyway if it is disabled. Only instantiate it if it is enabled. Also optimize wait time between I2C chip accesses in the probe function, and replace unnecessary check for support for I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_READ_BYTE_DATA with now required support for I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_READ_WORD_DATA. 2011-12-21x86: Simplify code by removing a !SMP #ifdefs from 'struct cpuinfo_x86'Kevin Winchester
Several fields in struct cpuinfo_x86 were not defined for the !SMP case, likely to save space. However, those fields still have some meaning for UP, and keeping them allows some #ifdef removal from other files. The additional size of the UP kernel from this change is not significant enough to worry about keeping up the distinction: text data bss dec hex filename 4737168 506459 972040 6215667 5ed7f3 vmlinux.o.before 4737444 506459 972040 6215943 5ed907 vmlinux.o.after for a difference of 276 bytes for an example UP config. If someone wants those 276 bytes back badly then it should be implemented in a cleaner way. Commit 2265cef2 (hwmon: (w83627ehf) Properly report PECI and AMD-SI sensor types) results in kernel panic if data->temp_label was not initialized. The problem was found with chip W83627DHG-P. 2011-11-06hwmon: (coretemp) Fix for non-SMP buildsJean Delvare
The definition of TO_ATTR_NO in the non-SMP case is wrong. As the SMP definition resolves to the correct value, just use this for both cases. Without this fix the temperature attributes are named temp0_* instead of temp2_*, so libsensors won't pick them. Broken since kernel 3.0. 2011-11-04hwmon: (w83627ehf) Add support for the W83627UHGJean Delvare
This is essentially a stripped down version of the W83627DHG. Noticeable difference is that it is still powered with +5V, as older models, even though the ADC resolution is 8 mV as newer models have.
