2019-03-20dt-bindings: display: amlogic, meson-vpu: exclusively use amlogic, canvasMaxime Jourdan
When the DRM driver for the meson platform was created, the bindings required that the DMC register region was provided. Through those DMC registers, the display driver could configure an IP called "canvas", a video lookup table used by the display IP. It was later discovered that "canvas" is actually an IP shared by other components than display: video decoder, 2D engine.. and that it wasn't possible to keep the canvas code in DRM. Over the past few months, incremental efforts have been deployed to create a standalone meson-canvas driver [1], and the DRM driver was patched to optionally use it if present [2]. This is the final step of those efforts where we simply remove any control over DMC that the meson DRM driver has. Please note that this breaks compatibility with older DTs that only provide the DMC register range but not the amlogic,canvas node. 2019-03-08drm/v3d: Add support for V3D v4.2.Eric Anholt
No compatible string for it yet, just the version-dependent changes. They've now tied the hub and the core interrupt lines into a single interrupt line coming out of the block. It also turns out I made a mistake in modeling the V3D v3.3 and v4.1 bridge as a part of V3D itself -- the bridge is going away in favor of an external reset controller in a larger HW module. v2: Use consistent checks for whether we're on 4.2, and fix a leak in an error path. v3: Use more general means of determining if the current 4.2 changes are in place, as apparently other platforms may switch back (noted by Dave). Update the binding doc. v4: Improve error handling for IRQ init. While typing these I think doing an s/component_master/aggregate/ would be useful: - it's shorter :-) - I think component/aggregate is much more meaningful naming than component/puppetmaster or something like that. At least to my English ear "aggregate" emphasizes much more the "assemble a pile of things into something bigger" aspect, and there's not really much of a control hierarchy between aggregate and constituing components. But that's way more than a quick doc typing exercise ... The mapping is usually the same across designs for a specific SoC generation, but every now and then there's a design that doesn't. Compared to the RFC[1] no changes to the patch itself, but igt moved forward a lot: - gitlab CI builds with: reduced configs/libraries, arm cross build and a sysroot build (should address all the build/cross platform concerns raised in the RFC discussions). - tests reorganized into subdirectories so that the i915-gem tests don't clog the main/shared tests directory anymore - quite a few more non-intel people contributing/reviewing/committing igt tests patches. 2019-01-30fs/dcache: Track & report number of negative dentriesWaiman Long
The current dentry number tracking code doesn't distinguish between positive & negative dentries. It just reports the total number of dentries in the LRU lists. As excessive number of negative dentries can have an impact on system performance, it will be wise to track the number of positive and negative dentries separately. This patch adds tracking for the total number of negative dentries in the system LRU lists and reports it in the 5th field in the /proc/sys/fs/dentry-state file. The number, however, does not include negative dentries that are in flight but not in the LRU yet as well as those in the shrinker lists which are on the way out anyway. The number of positive dentries in the LRU lists can be roughly found by subtracting the number of negative dentries from the unused count. Matthew Wilcox had confirmed that since the introduction of the dentry_stat structure in 2.1.60, the dummy array was there, probably for future extension. They were not replacements of pre-existing fields. So no sane applications that read the value of /proc/sys/fs/dentry-state will do dummy thing if the last 2 fields of the sysctl parameter are not zero.
