Travis CI configuration improvements
Some changes to run tests in different sub tasks vs. a single tasks.
This will make sure we run all the tests, even if some fail (i.e. there
is no dependency between our different types of tests).
Also experimenting with a build matrix to have more finegrained control
over what tests are run against which environments.
